The sun turned black, and the world of Arata Kasuga collapsed in an instant.  It turned out that his whole world was just an illusion created by an ancient grimoire.  The city in which he lived, it turns out, has long been destroyed by the phenomenon of splitting, and cousin and best childhood friend Hijiri disappeared.  Deciding to return the sister at any cost, Arata enters the Royal Academy.
