The Woman King (2022)

Set in the 1800s, the West African Kingdom of Dahomey is ruled by the wise ruler Ghezo (John Boyega). But a prosperous country is threatened: European conquerors decided to invade the territory of an independent state. Naniska (Viola Davis), the general of the Agoji women's team, trains a new generation of girls to protect Dahomey from the oppressors who seek to enslave their people, defend their right to freedom and preserve everything they hold dear. After all, there are things worth fighting for.
